Each year the HLAA holds their annual convention to bring together members of the hard of hearing community and connect them with tools for accessibility. The HLAA Convention is the largest hearing-friendly event in the United States, offering accessibility workshops, education resources, social events, and a trade show featuring the latest in technology and services for those with hearing loss. The 2023 HLAA Convention will be held June 29 through July 1 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Bringing timeless charm and a rich history, the Big Easy is sure to set the stage for this year’s convention to be one to remember. To kickoff the event, a “Taste of New Orleans” themed Welcome Back Bash will be held on the 29th at the Presbytère. Other convention highlights for this year include Keynote Speaker, Dr. K Renee Horton, renowned physicist and NASA engineer, opportunities for both HLAA chapter members and newcomers to get together, and an awards ceremony. Last year, InnoCaption’s own Co-CEO, Joe Duarte, was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award and our team is excited to honor this year’s award recipients for all the hard work they have done for the hard of hearing community. Real-time captioning will be available during each session and workshop, and sign language interpretation will be offered for plenary sessions and at request for workshops.
